Abstract

Having systematically summed up the progress in geological survey and exploration of mineral resources and analyzed the regional metallogenetic backgrounds and conditions, the authors discuss the process of tectonic evolution, metallogenetic geotectonic settings of the western section of Gangdise oregenic belt,Tibet. The correlation of mineralization ages, rock types, petrochemical characteristics and contents of metallic elements of granitoids related to mineralization in the western and eastern section of Gangdise orogenic belt, shows that the western area has great prospective potentiality for copper, iron, lead, zinc and gold(silver). Genetic types of ore deposits in this area mainly include skarn type, porphyry type, magmatic hydrothermal type related to intermediate-acidic intrusions, then the volcanic hydrothermal type. Besides, the study of the metallogenetic features of the explored deposits and mineralized spots and subdivision of metallogenetic belts in the studied area, has also suggested seven metallogenetic perspective areas (such as the western margin around the Jiangba granitic composite batholith)have been selected and the authors suggested for further exploration.
