Abstract

Objective To evaluate MRI findings of dysgenesis of the corpus callosum(DCC).Methods The MRI finding of 13 cases of DCC were retrospectively analyzed. Results The location of DCC was in trunk of the corpus callosum in 4 cases, and the trunk of the corpus callosum was partially deleted in about 1.5~2.5 cm length. The splenium of corpus callosum was deleted or small in 6 cases, and both of genu and splenium of corpus callosum were deleted 1 case. The ratio of anterior-posterior diameter of the corpus callosum with fronto-occipital diameter of the cerebrum was less than 0.3.Thesmall and thinness of corpus callosum and the genu and splenium of corpus callosum was 1 case respectively.Other concomitant malformations of the brian were presented in 7 cases, such as lipoma in 3 cases, schizencephaly and gray matter heterotopias in 1,lack of septum pellucidium in 1,the white matter of brain dysplasia in 1.Conclusion MRI can demonstrate accurately and clearly the direct features of DCC,especially in sagittal plane,The case of DCC with abvious clinical symptoms is almost accompanied by other malformations of brain.
