Abstract

ArcSDE is the channel of GIS between ArcGIS and relational database.It allows the user to manage the geography information in many kinds of data management system,and enables to use these data by all ArcGIS application procedure.ArcSDE is a key part of a multi-user ArcGIS.It provides an open interface for DBMS,and allows ArcGIS to manage data on various database platform,which includes Oracle,Oracle with Spatial/Locator,Microsoft SQL Server,IBM DB2,Informix and so on.ArcSDE provides the necessary function for you if your ArcGIS will use a heavy database visited and edited by large amount of users.Your ArcGIS can easily manage a share and multi-user space database by ArcSDE.
