Abstract
[Objective] To evaluate the curative effects and safety of nateglinide on type 2 diabetes. [Methods] A double-blind randomized clinical study was conducted on 48 patients with type 2 diabetes for 12 weeks. [Results] After 12 weeks, nateglinide significantly reduced the level of the Fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2 h postprandial blood glucose (2 h PBG), and hemoglobin as well as repaglinide (P 0.01), however, there were no significant differences between the two drugs (P 0.05). The rate of side effects caused by nateglinide was not different from those caused by repaglinide (P 0.05). [Conclusion] Nateglinide appears to be effective and safe to type 2 diabetes, which is similar to repaglinide.
