Microsurgical treatment on 24 patients with cerebellopontine angle tumor

Abstract

Objective:To discuss the microsurgical approaches and results of 24 patients with cerebellopontine angle(CPA) tumors.Methods:A retrospective analysis on the 24 patients undergoing surgical removal of CPA tumors between Janurary 2004 and Janurary 2008.Results:The CPA tumors were totally removed in 15 cases,subtotally in 8,partically in 1,1 died.Favorable recovery was seen in 23 cases.Conclusion:Appropriate approaches according to the size and site of tumors,protection of vessels,nerves and brain stem are all the keys to improve the therapeutical outcomes and the post-operative quality of life.
