An Analysis of the Rebellion of Various Nationalities in Guangxi under Tusi System in Yuan-Ming Dynasty

The period of Yuan and Ming dynasties is important for Tusi system's establishment and development.Under the dual system of feudal central rule and Tusi governance,the rebellion of various nationalities in Guangxi bear dual characteristics of resisting feudal political power and Tusi hereditary governance. Generally rebellions ended up with two outcomes.One is that they delivered a heavy blow to the dual system of feudal central rule and Tusi governance,shocking its foundation and forcing the feudal government to partially adjust its ruling techniques.The other one is that the extermination policy conducted by the central government and local Tusi destroyed the social productive forces.From the perspective of development,the continual uprisings and rebellion of various nationalities weakened the foundation of Tusi system,contributing to the decay of Tusi system in Guangxi and laying a foundation for the bureaucratization of native officers in Guangxi in Qing dynasty.
