Tusi System in Southwestern China and Reasons of Reforming it in Early Qing Dynasty

This article introduces the Tusi system in Southwest China focusing on the relations be- tween then central government and local Tusi, and the rights and privilege of Tusi. Through discussing the disputes over the reform of Tusi system in the early tenure of Yongzheng of Qing Dynasty, this arti- cles also reveals that the reason of abolishing Tusi system was to dismantle the conflicts and clashes be- tween Tusi in Southwest China and centralize power
