Abstract
Purpose; To report 16 cases of optic canal decompression by transcranial approach for the treatment of optic nerve injury. Methods:Comparison of status of injury,Pre-operative duration,optic canal fracture,CTappearance of optic nerve injury before opera-tion. The exact change of optic nerve during operation eventually to introduce the aperative procedure and finally pre - and post-operative vis-ual acuity changes of 16 cases were discussed and reviewed with literatures. Results:Visual acuity of 13 cases improved one month after oper-ation. While other 3 cases were not improved. Conclusion: Pterion approach for optic canal decompression is effective and safe.
