Analysis of 13000 Prescriptions

Abstract

Objective To investigate the prescriptions of the Guangzhou women and children's hospital, for proving the quality of prescribing. Methods We collected 13000 prescriptions from October of 2005 to November of 2007, and analyzed it by the standard of Prescription management which carried out on May 1, 2007 by the department of health in china. Results The unqualified prescriptions were 4585 pieces, the qualified rate was only 65%, and in which the prescriptions of using drugs more than seven days was 19.6%. The prescriptions which had used antibacterial drugs were 4535 pieces, which was 34.88%, in which the prescriptions used only one antibacterial was 79.58%. The rate of medicine cost was from 81.43% to 70.39% in these prescriptions year by year, and the average cost of these prescriptions was tend to lower too. Conclusion The quality of the prescriptions was good in our hospital, and the tendency of cost was descended, the irrational part was using drugs more than seven days without reason and writing no underline in the end and so on which should be take notices by the doctors.
