Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of community interventionon glucose metabolism of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Totally 66 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who were diagnosed at out-patient clinic in our hospital were radomly divided into intervention group(n=33) and control group(n=33),the latter was only given medical therapy and the former was given drug therapy combined with six-month community intervention including the education of diabetes mellitus knowledge, diet intervention, and sport intervention. After six-month treatment, blood glucose(BG) and hemoglobin of glycosylation(HbA1c)were detected and compared between two groups. Results The intervention group gained a better improvement in blood glucose index than the control group. Conclusion community intervention can effectively control the blood glucose index and improve the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
