Observation on the Therapeutic Effect of Xiaoyingtang on the Treatment for Hyperthyroidism

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions,Xiaoyingtang,on the treatment for hyperthyroidism,so as to summarize an effective and directional therapeutic methods.Methods 50 patients with hyperthyroidism in our hospital since February 2010 to February 2011 were selected,which course were from 1 year up to 5 years.The patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,25 cases in each group.The traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions,Xiaoyingtang,was blended into decoction by using the herbs of dissipating phlegm to remove mass and relieving qi depression class,such as seaweed,kelp,Prunella,sea Gefen,dry alum,Usnea,Breit,wheat starter,Angelica.The observation group was treated with Xiaoyingtang for 12 weeks,and the control group was treated with propylthiouracil for 12 weeks.Patients with hyperthyroidism recurrence of two groups were observed and analyzed.Results Clinical symptoms and signs of the observation group were improved much better than that of the control group,the difference between two groups has statistical significance(P 0.01).The level of blood thyroid hormone of the observation group was reduced obviously comparing with the control group,but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P 0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine prescription,Xiaoyingtang,has an approving therapeutic effect on the treatment for hyperthyroidism,the mechanism maybe that it can not only control the disadvantage of Octa and dryness,but also plays a certain role in blending with Yin and Yang of patient.
