Risk assessment on geological hazards in Qingchuan County of Sichuan Province

China is a country with a lot of geological hazards.Since 1990,geological hazards brought about 1000 deaths and an economic loss of more than 20 billion yuan.Risk assessment of geological hazards is the important part of investigation of geological hazards and the basic of risk management and hazards-reduce management.It provides scientific proves for the policy and projection of hazards-reduce that the government designs and performs.Firstly this article introduces the main approaches on risk assessment of geological hazards based on available references worldwide and points out the flaws in the risk assessment of geological hazards by comparing the researches in China with foreign countries.Then based on the working experience,the article sets up a simple and effective approach for risk assessment of geological hazards by means of comparing method of the risk assessment index of geological hazards.The article sets the investigation of geological hazards for example and does the risk assessment of geological hazards.The results provides methodology for the dividing of susceptible areas and prevention areas of geological hazards.
