Abstract

[Objective] To evaluate the effect of tuberculosis control in Wolong and provide scientific basis for sustainable tuberculosis control.[Methods] Retrospective analysis was conducted on the record of registration, diagnosis and treatment of the tuberculosis patients from 1994 to 2003.[Results] During the 10 years,6 076 patients had suspected tuberculosis symptoms,2 132 cases were found with active tuberculosis, among which 540 cases were smear positive. The registration rate of active tuberculosis increased from 18.1/100 000 in 1994 to 30.3/100 000 in 2002;that of the smear positive increased from 1.30/100 000 to 10.10/100 000;the cure rate of the new smear positive reached 95.%;the cure rate of re-treated smear positive was 82.2%.[Conclusion] Despite the great improvement in tuberculosis control in the last ten years, the efficiency was unremarkable because of the low discovery rate of tuberculosis patients.
