Abstract

The method is based on the catalytic effects of Fe() on the decoloring reaction of arsenazo oxidized by hydrogen peroxide. The kinetic conditions of the decoloring reaction are studied and a new catalytic kinetic spetrophotometry for determining trace iron is established. The detection limit for Fe(Ⅲ) in this method is 8.97×10~(-11) g/mL.The linear range is 0-1.2 μg/25 mL for Fe(Ⅲ).The method has been used to determine the trace iron in HCl and HNO_3 with satisfactory results.
