Abstract

The oxidation of Phenol red by hydrogen peroxide in sulfuric acid medium using Fe(Ⅲ) as catalyst and kinetic parameter are investigated. The reaction speed constant and the apparent activation energy have been determined.A new method for the determination of trace iron(Ⅲ) has been set up.The limit of detection is 174×10-10 g/mL of iron(Ⅲ) and the linear range of iron(Ⅲ) is 0~04?μg Fe3+/25?mL.The method has been applied to the determination of trace iron(Ⅲ) in water samples?hair with satisfactory results.
