Abstract

Objective To explore the various laboratory examinations clinical diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion Methods The data of eighty-nine cases of malignant pleural effusion in our hospital from September 2009 to March 2011 diagnosed by clinical imaging, pathology and laboratory instruments such as the B ultrasound,X-ray,histological cultures, chest CT and so on were analyzed. Results CEA,CA125,CA153,CA199 were found in malignant pleural effusion, four tumor markers average level were higher than 0.01;pleural effusion CEA/blood CEA ratio was greater than 1.0.Bronchoscopy diagnosis rate was 66.7%;pleural fluid cytology diagnosis rate was 76.4%;diagnosis of pleural biopsy was 84.7%,lymph node biopsy rate was 100%.Conclusion To prompt malignant pleura effusion by pleural fluid CEA/serum CEA ratio,B ultrasound,X-ray,chest CT and etc,we should use bronchoscopy, pleural biopsy, pleural fluid cytology, lymphadenopathy and lymph node biopsy. However, for some unknown reason to refractory malignant pleural effusion,it is necessary to make enzymatic examination and tumor marker examination
