Abstract
Objective The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of resveratrol on anti-oxidation and Ca2+ content in liver mitochondria of mice performing endurance exercise. Methods Kunming mice,72,were randomly divided into 3 groups according to weight: group A(Sedentary Control),group B(Endurance exercise),and group C(Resveratrol + Endurance exercise).Administrated of resveratrol with 10 mg kg-1d-1,the mice of group C were taken incremental load protocol of swimming for six weeks, and then had a exhaustion swimming as did the mice of group B.All mice were sacrificed and sampled 24 h later. The following parameters in mice were tested: SOD activity,GSH-Px activity and MDA content in skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, thymus, spleens, kidney, liver mitochondria and erythrocytes,Ca2+ content in liver mitochondria. Results SOD activity in skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, liver mitochon dria, spleens, thymus and erythrocytes,GSH-Px activity in cardiac muscle, spleens and erythrocytes in training mice were lower than that in sedentary control group after 6 weeks training(P0.05),while MDA content in skeletal muscle, liver mitochondria, spleens and erythrocytes, and and contain Ca2+ content in liver mitochondria significantly increased compared with sedentary control group(P0.05).However,SOD activity in skeletal muscle, liver mitochondria and spleens, and GSH-Px activity in skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle significantly increased(P0.05),MDA content in skeletal muscle, liver mitochondria, thymus and erythrocytes significantly decreased(P0.05),and Ca2+ content in liver mitochondria also significantly decreased in resveratrol treatment group mice compared with endurance mice(P0.05).Therefore,it was suggested that reseveratrol increased the anti-oxidation capacity of mice performing endurance exercise and keep Ca2+ content in liver mitochondria at normal level, and thus delayed exercise-induced fatigue.
