The effect of rhubarb in treatment of severe acute pancreatitis

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of rhubarb treatment for patients of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods 41cases of SAP were randomly divided into treatment group(n=21)and control group(n=20).Conventional treatment were administrated to control group,while rhubarb were added to treatment group.The changes of serum-amylase level,intra-abdominal pressure,APACHEⅡ were recorded;aslo the days of bowel sound happened and staying in intensive cure unite(ICU)were recorded.Results The serum-amylase level,intra-abdominal pressure,APACHEⅡin treatment group were lower than those in control group.And the days of bowel sound happened and staying in ICU in treatment group were significantly decreased than those in control group.Conclusion The rhubarb treatment can relieved the symptom of SAP and improve the prognosis.
