On the origin and changes of chanting Songs in Zuo Zhuan

Chanting Songs was transformed from ceremonial Songs,an important rite of sacrifice,banquet and archery in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the ritual function of the Songs was obvious.With warfare rising among states and ceremony damaging,the ceremonial Songs couldn’t adapt to new political and diplomatic affairs,then Chanting Songs passed on ceremonial Songs,and used the characters of the Songs to achieve the political and practical function.Chanting Songs disppeared in the Warring States due to the fact that all states discarded the elegance and ritual.
