Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of Livin in gastric carcinoma and to determine its relationship with Caspase 3.Methods:To detect expressions of Livin protein and Caspase 3 protein in gastric carcinoma(n = 60),benign dis-ease(n = 10) and normal tissues(n = 10) by immunohistochemistry(SP method). Results:The positive rates of Livin protein ex-pression were 0,20% and 66.7% in the gastric carcinoma, benign disease and normal tissues respectively(P 0.01 or P 0.05).The positive rates of Caspase 3 protein were 70%,50%,18.3% in the three groups respectively(P 0.01 or P 0.05).There was a correlation between expression of Livin and the infiltrative depth of gastric carcinoma tissues(P 0.05),but there were no correlation to gender, age, pathological types and lymphoid node metabasis(P 0.05).The expression of Caspase 3 was negatively correlated with the expression of Livin(P 0.01).Conclusion:High incidence of positive expression of Livin in gastric carcinoma may provide valuable diagnostic and prognostic marker.
