Abstract
Under microwave irradiation,2-pyridoin is synthesized successfully by the reaction of benzoin condensation, which use 2-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde as raw material and vitamin B1 as a catalyst. The reaction time under microwave irradiation is only 10 min,but the yield is over 88%.Vitamin B1 has the advantages of non-corrosive,non-toxic,cheap and readily available compared with potassium cyanide used as a traditional catalyst. The optimum conditions for the synthesis of 2-pyridoin are as follow:reaction temperature is 60 ℃,the ratio of n(2-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde):n(vitamin B1) is between 15∶1 and 20∶l,power of microwave is 400 W and radiation time is 10 min.The compound is characterized by elemental analysis,IR and X-ray diffraction analysis.
