Study on Regional Urbanization Differences in Xinjiang

Abstract

Differences on geographical location, the level of economic development and mode of urbanization decide the differences on regional urbanization in Xinjiang. Using the imbalance index of urbanization, taking 15 cities and regions in Xinjiang as the basic unit, it discusses the differences between urbanization and the indicators such as land area, population, GDP,gross output of the first industry, the second industry and the tertiary industry in 2007,and analyzes the trend of the imbalance index of urbanization responding to those indicators from 2003 to 2007.At last, it is concluded that the use of land is polarized, population base is large, traditional agriculture and services occupy the important status, and urbanization lags behind industry in the development of Xinjiang urbanization.
