Survey of current situation of health education among clinical nurses

Objective To explore into current situation of health education implemented by nurses in Jingmen general hospitals,and explore the influencial factors.Methods A total of 448 clinical nurses were surveyed by a self-designed questionnaire in 3 comprehensive hospitals of Jingmen City,and the data was analyzed through descriptive statistics and one way ANOVA analysis.Results The first 2 regular ways for nurses to carry out health education were face to face consultation and distribution of health education prescriptions.The first 2 regular education contents were to provide dietary guidance and hospital admission guidance.Clinical nurses scored,3~26(20.44±4.31) in the aspect of education contents,and 1～20(8.73±4.33) in the aspect of education method.Nurses in different departments,educational background,professional titles and years of clinical nursing care got different scores in the aspects of education content and education method (P0.01).The first 3 problems in the process of implementation of health education were busy task,and heavy workhard,shortage of nurses and concerns of the conflicts of explanations between nurses and doctors.Conclusion The education content of health education is relatively better,while the education methods is not so good.Nurses with better educational background,higher professional titles and more experience of clinical nursing care have more advantages in the program of clinical health education.Many problems exist in the implementation of health education,and conditions should be improved to enhance the quality of health education.
