Study on wetland ecological environment protection in the Yangtze Estuary area

Wetland is a ecosystem with multi-functions and rich biodiversity and one of most important living environment for human being. At estuary of the Yangtze River, tidal flats are broad, food sources and wetland resources are rich, it is one of nature landscape with the richest biodiversity, the most productivity and the highest ecological value. The mouth of the Yangtze River is not only a path for migration of various aquatic organisms, but a main remaining place for migrating birds in Asia. In recent years, large amount of tidal flats and wetland were used in city construction, it is unfavorable for protecting wetland ecological system of the Yangtze estuary. How to orderly develop tidal flat resources and reasonably protect wetland at the Yangtze estuary have important significance for maintaining coordinative development of ecological environment and economy. Through analysis on water environment, water ecology, wetland environment evolution at the Yangtze estuary, the suggestions for ecological environmnent protection are put forward to maintain ecological balance, proctect wetland functions and wetland biodiversity, and realize sustainable utilization of wetland resources.
