Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the role of keratinocytes derived from oral mucosa in the development of oral submucous fibrosis(OSF) and to further elucidate the etiology and pathogenesis of OSF.Method: Human oral mucosa keratinocytes were isolated, cultured, stimulated with aqueous areca nut extract(ANE).The keratinocytes conditioned medium(KCM) after stimulated by ANE was aspirated and then the proliferation of human fibroblasts cultured in different concentration of KCM was detected with MTT method.Result:The KCM increased the proliferation of fibroblasts which showed indiviual diversity.Conclution:ANE may induce OSF through changing the biological activity of oral keratinocyte.
