Clinical Observation on Knee Osteoarthritis treated by Fumigation with Chinese Herbs plus Acupuncture

[ Objective ] To observe the clinical effects of fumigation with Chinese herbs combining with acupuncture on knee osteoarthritis.[Methods] 50 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee were randomly divided into treatment group (n =25) and control group ( n = 25 ) ,the treatment group fumigation treatment in Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture,while the control group treated only with herbal fumigation.[Results] With a treatment course of four weeks,the curative effect show excellent 13 cases,fine 10cases,midst 1 case and bad 1 case in observation group,the total fineness rate was 92% ;while in control group the curative effect show excellent 9 cases,fine 8 cases,midst 4 cases and bad 4 cases,the total fineness rate was 68 % ; There is significance difference between two groups (x~2=28.5,P0.01).[ Conclusion ] The clinical effect of combined therapy was better than single acupuncture therapy in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
