Clinical Observation on Five-step-knee-kneading Manipulation Combined with Chinese Herb Fumigation in Treating Knee Osteoarthritis

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the curative effect of five-step-knee-kneading manipulation (FSKKM) combined with Chinese herb fumigation on knee osteoarthritis (KOA).Methods:Forty-three KOA patients were randomized into treatment group (23 cases) and control group (20 cases). Patients in treatment group were treated with FSKKM combined with Chinese herb fumigation, while patients in control group were only treated with Chinese herbs fumigation. According to the standard norm of the integral assessment and the standard norm of the curative effect, the results were evaluated.Results:There was significant difference of curative effect between the treatment group and the control group (P0.05). After treatment, the result of treatment group was better than that of the control group. Among the treatment group, clinical control was observed in 4 cases, remarkable effectiveness in 10 cases, effectiveness in 7 cases, and ineffectiveness in 2 cases. The healing and remarkably effective rate was 60.8%, and the total effective rate was 91.3%. Among the control group, clinical control was found in 2 cases, remarkable effectiveness in 5 cases, effectiveness in 8 cases, and ineffectiveness in 5 cases. The healing and remarkably effective rate was 35%, and the total effective rate was 75%.Conclusion:FSKKM combined with Chinese herb fumigation can greatly ameliorate the patients' clinical symptoms. It is an effective method for the treatment of KOA.
