Abstract
Objective To understand the awareness rate of HIV/AIDS related knowledge among men who have sex with men(MSM) in Shenzhen, and to provide scientific basis for further targeted health education interventions. Methods By encouraging MSM to participate in this research with informed consent,an interview with self-completed structured questionnaire was conducted among 450 MSM recruited using snowball sampling. Results The awareness rate of HIV/AIDS related knowledge among MSM was generally high in Shenzhen, except for one question whether HIV/AIDS can be transmitted through mosquito bites for which the correct rate was only 63.78%.By logistic regression, the higher the educational level(OR=0.711,P=0.0238) and monthly income(OR=0.831,P=0.042 9),the higher awareness rate; The constituent ratio about HIV/AIDS prevention related services among MSM with different occupations had a significant difference(P=0.002 5);the most important resources of knowledge were internet, television and free promotional materials. Conclusion The awareness rate of HIV/AIDS related knowledge among MSM is generally high, and it is important to improve the sense of self-protection among them.
