Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of valsartan and benazepril in the treatment of mild to moderate primary essential hy-pertension.Methods:72 cases diagnosed as mild to moderate essential hypertension were randomly divided into valsartan group(37 cas-es)and benazepril group(35 cases). The two groups were respecively given valsartan 80 mg,benazepril 10 mg on the morning. The total ob-servation time was 6 weeks. In 1,4,6-week medication, blood pressure was measured. After 6 weeks of medication, serum potassium, liver function, kidney function and blood lipids were measured. Results:After 1,4,6-week medication, blood pressurein the two groups signifi-cantly decreased than before treatment(P0.05).The difference between the two groups was not statistically significant(P0.05).At the end of 6 weeks, the antihypertensive effective rates in valsartan and benazepril groups were 78.37% and 75.75% respectively. At the end of 6 weeks, compared with before treatment, serum potassium, liver function, renal function had no significant change. In valsartan group,TC,TG,LDL-C was significantly lowered,HDL-C had no significant change. Conclusion:Valsartan and benazepril on the elderly patients with mild to moderate primary hypertensive have better effect lowering blood pressure, which is safe to take.Valsartan can improve lipid metabolism in hypertensive patients.
