Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of sulfur fumigation on the contents of ferulic acid, the main chemical constituents of Radix angelicae sinensis. Methods The contents of ferulic acid in both sulfur fumigated and un-fumigated Radix angelicae sinensis from three habitats were analysed with RP-HPLC,by using Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18(150 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm) column with acetonitrile-0.085% phosphoric acid solution(17∶83) as mobile phase, flow rate at 1.0 mL/min,column temperature of 35 ℃,and the detection wavelength of 316 nm.Results The average recovery rate was 112.87%,and the RSD was 4.4%(n=6).The ferulic acid contents in Radix angelicae sinensis processed with sulfur fumigation were 0.047,0.057 and 0.051 respectively, and the ferulic acid contents in Radix angelicae sinensis processed without sulfur fumigation were 0.139%,0.076% and 0.059% respectively. Conclusion Sulfur fumigation had great effects on the contents of ferulic acid in the processing of Radix angelicae sinensis.
