Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between homocysteine(HCY),endothelin(ET-1)and intima-media thickness(IMT)of the patients with type 2 diabete mellitus(T2DM).Methods The serum levels of HCY and ET-1 were detected by ELISA and RIA methods in 125 subjects with T2DM(group T2DM)and 55 normal controls(group C).IMT was measured as well. Results The activities of serum HCY and ET were higher than those in group C.Serum HCY,ET-1 and IMT of group T2DM were(16.3±3.7)μmol/L,(1.23±0.39)pg/ml and(1.03±0.36)mm,respectively,which were significantly higher than those of group C.Serum level of HCY was positively correlated with that of ET-1.HCY,ET-1 and SBP were the independent risk factors for the increase of IMT in T2DM patients. Conclusion Combined examination of HCY and ET-1 is helpful to evaluate the development and progress of diabetic macrovascular diseases in early stage.
