Clinical Application of CT-guided Percutaneous Fine-needle Aspiration Biopsy of Lung

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of CT-guided percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy of lung. Methods CT-guided percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy of lung was performed in 45 cases with pulmonary diseases. Results Effective specimens were obtained from the 45 cases (achievement ratio 100%). Final diagnosis was made in 43 cases (diagnostic accuracy 96.6%). 21 cases were confirmed to be malignant, 22 cases benign, including 7 cases of squamous-celled carcinoma, 5 cases of adenocarcinoma, 1 cases of alveolar carcinoma, 8 cases of metastatic carcinoma, 19cases of tuberculosis,2 cases of inflammatory pseudotumors, 1 case of hamartoma. The major complications included 2 cases of small pneumothorax and 1 case of little hemoptysis (incidence rate 6.7%). Conclusion CT-guided percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy of lung is a feasible and safe method in diagnosis of pulmonary lesions with high accuracy and few complication, and can be the routine method in diagnosis of pulmonary lesions.
