Abstract
Objective To analyze the laboratory diagnosis results and epidemiological features of hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD) in Hengyang from April to December,2010,and to provide the reference for formulating or adjusting HFMD prevention measures in future. Methods Totally 625 samples from HFMD patients were collected from county CDCs and medical institutions of Hengyang from April to December,2010.Specific nucleic acids of human enterovirus(HEV),enterovirus 71(EV71) and coxasckievirus A group of 16 type(CVA16) were detected by real-time fluorescence RT-PCR method. Results Among the 625 samples, the positive rates of EV71,CVA16,and other HEV were 26.08%(163/625),8.80%(55/625),and 19.84%(124/625),respectively.In the 95 HFMD severe cases,EV71-positive rate was the highest(67.80%,40/95), and moreover, males' positive rate(50.85%) was slightly higher than that of females(27.78%),and no CVA16 was detected. In the 9 HFMD death cases,6 were EV71,with the positive rate of 66.67%.The peak of HFMD was from April to July. The age distribution was mainly in the group under 3-year-old,moreover,severe cases and death cases in this group were more than other age groups. Conclusions The prevalence of HFMD is serious in Henegyang in 2010.EV71 is the major enterovirus causing HFMD severe cases and death cases.Surveillance should be strengthened, especially in the group under 3-year-old.
