Abstract

Objective:To invest the expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) in hepatic tissue and the correlation between them during hepatic fibrosis. Methods:The model of hepatic fibrosis in rats was induced by injection of carbon tetrachloride (CCl_4). CTGF, TGFβ1, Collagen I and III in hepatic tissues of these rats were detected with immunohistochemistry. The correlation between CTGF and TGFβ1 was analyzed after the results of immunohistochemistry were semi-quantified. Results:CTGF was not detected in normal controls. TGFβ1 was detected little in normal controls. Collagen I , III were distributed in portal tracts, endothelium in central vein and space of Disse.2,4 and 6 weeks after CCl_4 injection, the above 4 proteins were further enhanced, and CTGF had a significant correlation with TGFβ1 (P0.05).Conclusion:The CTGF is overexpressed during the procedure of hepatic fibrosis, and has significant correlation with TGFβ1, suggesting that CTGF may provide a new target for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis.
