Rhenium Resource in the Porphyry Molybdenum Deposit at Langchang Laochang and its Significance

Abstract

Lancang Laochang is one of the mines of resources crisis in Yunnan province.Since 2008,a super-large potential porphyry molybdenum(copper) deposit was found at the deep level of the mine,it is the new alternative resources for sustainable development of mine.In order to investigate the possibility for comprehensive utilization of the new resources;rhenium content in ore,in major gangue minerals and in molybdenite is analyzed and researched in this paper,the results showed that the Re-Mo content in ore body presented positive correlation significantly;the average content of Re in industrial molybdenum ore body and major gangue minerals is lower(≤0.2 g/t),but the average content of Re in molybdenite is 164.2 g/t,so 95% Re occurs in molybdenite.This paper points out that Re resource in molybdenum ore body has important comprehensive utilization value,it should be given profound attention during exploration and comprehensive evaluation of molybdenum resource.
