The Zhang Sheng-jun Belief and the Folk God-Making Movement in Fujian in the Song Dynasty

Zhang Sheng-jun, a real person in the Song Dynasty, was deified by the populace in the folk God-making movement in Fujian during the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty. On the one hand, the Zhang Sheng-jun beliefs and legends had strong favor of scholars, which had an important bearing on the status and the social positions of the writers of the text record; on the other hand, they often revealed the original belief features of Zhang Sheng-jun belief as part of magic, Taoism and Buddhism, and this was identical to the form of the folk movement of making gods in Fujian Folk Society and the yardstick of the populace choosing gods at that time.
