Abstract
Folk beliefs prevailed in Shanxi during the Tang dynasty.The article mainly investigates the worship for natural gods,such as the mountain gods and the river gods,beliefs in heroes and so forth.The author thinks that folk beliefs in Shanxi during the Tang dynasty are diversified and extensive,and possess regional,utilitarian and also distorting characteristics.Through the perspective of folk beliefs in Shanxi during the Tang dynasty,we can improve our understanding of social custom and conditions of ancient East Side of the River district.
