Abstract
Based on the hydraulic characteristics obtained from model tests of U-shaped channel straight wall measuring flume, some working conditions of the flume were simulated and the discharge rating curve was calcuated. In order to optimze the hydraulic calculation of U-shaped channel straight wall measuring flume. The results show that the calculated values of piezometric line correspond with the measured values, and the flow characteristics shown from velocity distribution pattern are consistent with the practical conditions. The chosen model can simulate correctly 3D flow characteristics of measuring flume and the numerical simulation method is reliable. It provides a guideline for optimal design of measuring fume.
