RESEARCH ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARD FOR HAND HYGIENE FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN HEALTHCARE SETTINGS

Abstract

Objective To investigate the implementation of personnel hand hygiene in hospitals after the Standard for hand hygiene for healthcare workers in healthcare settings was promulgated and to improve the compliance of hand hygiene among medical staff. Methods Random sampling method was used to survey the compliance rate of the medical staff hand hygiene and effect of hand-washing procedures in this hospital. Results The compliance rate of hand hygiene of medical staff in this hospital increased from 30.49% to 51.08% after the Standard for hand hygiene for healthcare workers in healthcare settings was implemented.The correct rate of six-step hand-washing procedure for medical staff increased from 38.18% to 70.91% and the monitored qualified rate of medical staff hand hygiene increased from 85.83% to 94.17%. Conclusion Through the implementation of Medical staff hand hygiene practices and the intervening measures,the situation,facilities and compliance of medical staff hand hygiene have been significantly improved.
