Analysis of sublay repair in the treatment of 28 cases of abdominal incisional hernia with Marlex mesh

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate tension-free hernia Sublay repair with retromuscular prefascial for the treatment of abdominal incisional hernia. Methods: From January 2002 to July 2009, 28 adult patients with incisional hernias were treated with mesh. There were 10 men and 18 women.The mean age was 65.2years old(range from 47 to 78).The diameter of hernia ring was from 3 to 28 cm averaging at 15.5cm. All cases underwent Sublay repair. Results: All operations were successful and no severe complication happened. The operative time was 75 to 140 min and the average was 100 min. The postoperative hospital stay was 9 to 21 days and the average was 12.8 days. The follow-up time was 3 months to 60 months and the average was 35 months.No ileus or hernia recurrence during the follow-up. Conclusions: Sublay repair of incisional hernia of abdominal wall with marlex mesh was a safe and superior method.
