Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of vitrectomy on proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Methods 198 eyes of 156 patients with PDR who had undergone vitrectomy were retrospectively analyzed. Results Followed up from 6 to 12 months(mean 10 months),the final visual acuity increased in 146 eyes(73.74%),116 eyes (79.45%) were in stage Ⅳ to Ⅴ and 30 eyes(20.55%) were in stage Ⅵ;the visual acuity had no changes in 32 eyes(16.16%)and was decreased in 20 eyes(10.10%).Retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage and high intraocular pressure were found after the operations. Conclusion Vitrectomy is valuable in improving visual acuity.
