Abstract
Objective To observe the treatment with 18-α glycyrrhizic acid(18-α-GA) for acute liver injury induced by D-galactosamine(GalN) in rats. Methods Sixty rats were randomly divided into six groups.Except the negative control group, the other groups were intraperitoneally injected with 10% GalN 500 mg/kg.Three days prior to the GaIN treatment 18α-GA was intraperitoneally injected with 15,30,and 60 mg/kg once per day After 30 h of GalN treatment, serum ALT and AST were detected and the left lobes of the liver were histologically examined. Results 18α-GA could significantly inhibit the level of serum ALT and AST,and reduce the pathological damage in acute liver injury of the rats. Conclusion 18α-GA has the potential to prevent and treat acute liver injury induced by GalN in the rats.
