Abstract

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of pit and fissure sealant technique in prevention of dental decay for children's first permanent molars.Method:Selected 200 children between 6 to 9 years whose four first permanent molars just came out to the cant of occlusion plane and were fit for the pit and fissure sealing.Randomly selected the upper and lower bilateral first permanent molars in left or right as pit and fissure sealing group for the pit and fissure sealing, and the other side without the pit and fissure sealing as the control group. The patients were followed 3 years.Result:The rate of dental caries in the pit and fissure sealing group were less than that in the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion:The pit and fissure sealing of the first permanent molars for children between 6 to 9 years can efficiently prevent dental caries.
