Clinical Effect of Pit and Fissure Sealant on Children for preventing pit and fissure caries

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of pit and fissure sealant technique in molar occlusal pit and fissure caries.Method: 113 second deciduous molars and 185 first permanent molars were treated with pit and fissure sealant in occlusal pit and fissure.Result: The patients were followed up for 3 years,1,2 and 3 years after application of pit and fissure sealant,the remain rate(%) of sealant in the second deciduous molars(permanent molars) was 100%(100%),87.6%(97.2%) and 77.0%(90.1%).The incidence dental caries was obviously depressed.Conclusion: Pit and fissure sealant technique is an effective way for preventing pit and fissure caries.
