Monitoring information and strategy analysis of public health emergency at schools in Guangxi,2004~2007

Abstract

Objective To study the basic characteristics of the public health emergency of schools in Guangxi from 2004 to 2007,and to put forward strategies for it.Methods The public health emergency at schools in Guangxi from 2004 to 2007 and related information were analysed using descriptive epidemiology method.Results 365 emergent public health events were reported from 2004 to 2007,involving 877 361 people,and 18 174 people came down with diseases but none of them were reported dead.Infectious disease outbreaks and food poisoning events were the main composition of emergent public health events,which respectively accounted for 85.21% and 7.67%.Emergent public health events were reported every month,but more events occurred from March to May,and December was the peak.Conclusions Emergent public health events were on the rise year by year from 2004 to 2007.The events mainly occurred in primary and middle schools in the countryside,which should be the focus of the public health emergency in Guangxi.
