Epidemiological analysis on emergency public health events at schools in Jiangsu Province during 2006-2010

Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and analyze various factors of the emergency public health events,which provide scientific evidences and related strategies for efficient prevention and control.Methods Descriptive epidemiological method was utilized to analyze the data of the emergency public health events at schools from Emergency Public Reporting System in Jiangsu province during 2006-2010.Results It was reported 624 emergency public health events at schools in Jiangsu Province during 2006-2010,of which 592 infectious diseases events and 21 food-poisoning events,accounting for 94.87% and 3.37%,respectively.There were 21 695 cases of diseases and no death,involving 1 038 005 people.The peaks of the emergency public health events at schools occurred from March to May and from September to December.In general,it was reported more in the middle area of Jiangsu province as well as rural schools.The respiratory diseases took a large part of infectious diseases events at schools,and the larger scale mainly existed in flu and other infectious diarrhea.Conclusion The number of emergency public health events at schools increases followed by decreased in Jiangsu Province during 2006-2010.The emergency public health events occurred frequently at schools,especially in elementary schools in rural area.
