Epidemiological Analysis on Emergency Public Health Events at Schools in Zhejiang Province During 2004-2007

Objective To study epidemiological situation of emergency public health events at schools from 2004 to 2007 in Zhejiang province,and to provide evidences for the prevention and control strategies.Methods Descriptive epidemiology method was used to analyze the data from Emergency Public Reporting System in Zhejiang Provincial CDC.Results During 2004-2007,there were totally 769 reported emergency public health events at schools in Zhejiang province.In all,there were 33 000 persons who had fallen ill and 3 persons had died.Infectious diseases outbreak and food poisoning events were the main composition of emergency public health events at school,which accounted for 80.23%(617 events) and 6.50%(50 events) respectively.Anymore,52.28% events occurred in countryside primary schools.Conclusion Emergency public health events occurred frequently at schools,especially in rural areas,where measures should be strengthened.
