Abstract

Aim: To study the relationship between the expression of CD44v6 protein and clinical pathological characterizations of gastric cancer and its adjacent cancer tissues. Methods:Immunohistochemistry S P method was used. Results:Immunoreactivity for CD44v6 was not found in normal gastric tissues; in the adjacent cancer tissues, the weak positive rate of CD44v6 was 35%, while in gastric cancer, the positive rate of CD44v6 was 64.4%;the positive rates of CD44v6 was correlated with histological types, depth of invasion, and lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer. Conclusion:These data suggest that the expression of CD44v6 protein may be useful for evaluating biological behavior of gastric cancer.
