Expression and the clinical significance of CD44v3 in the gastric cancer

Objective To investigate the expression of CD44v3 and its clinical significance in human gastric cancer.Methods The expression of CD44v3 was detected by immunohistochemistry SP method in 63 gastric cancer tissues.Results No expression of CD44v3 was observed in normal tissues,paracancerous tissues and distant-tumor tissues.The positive rate of cancer tissues was 41.27%.There was no correlation found among the expression of CD44v3 with pathological type,distant metastasis,the degree of tumor differentiation,TNM stage,Lauren type as well as Borrmann type(P0.05);The expression of CD44v3 was much higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than that in those without lymph node metastasis(P0.05);The expression of CD44v3 was positively correlated with the depth of invasion(rs=0.4253).Conclusion With a moderate level expression in gastric cancer tissues,CD44v3 was correlated with the lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer and the depth of invasion.The expression of CD44v3 may suggest the progression of gastric cancer and prognosis the metastatic potential value of gastric cancer.
