Utilization of Chinese Patent Medicines in A Hospital During 2008-2010 Period

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the utilization of Chinese patent medicines in a hospital during 2008-2010 period in order to provide references for management of drug selection and clinical rational drug use.METHODS: The drug varieties,consumption sum,DDDs and DDC of the Chinese patent medicines during 2008-2010 period were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS: Over the three years,the number of varieties of Chinese patent medicines in this hospital decreased year by year,whereas the annual consumption sum of which was increasing steadily.Most of the top 20 on the list of consumption sum were blood stasis-resolving drugs and antitumor drugs with high DDDs.The prices of the top 15 drugs on the list of DDDs were reasonable with order ratio approaching 1.CONCLUSION: The clinical use of Chinese patent medicines in this hospital is reasonable on the whole and which were widely used in patients from internal medicine department,surgical department,traumatic orthopedic department and department of gynecology.
